GOOGLE OUTSMARTS SEO BASICS
Blog Post, Posted on March 17, 2014
“One hour a day, read. Read everything in the world except your business. Read junk. Very much junk. Read so that anything that interests you will stick in your memory. Just read, just read, just read… There is your audience. There is the language. There are the words that they use.”
Those words from Eugene Schwartz, one of the highest-paid copywriters of the “Mad Men” era of the 1950s and 60s, are a reminder of how important it is to know your audience. He makes a very important point that Google understands: In order to effectively communicate with an audience, you must learn their needs, what's important to them, how they think, what they feel and how they view the world.
The days of keywords, or any other technique calculated to artificially pique someone’s mouse clicks are gone. With new and ever changing algorithms, 2014 requires a new (or not so new) approach to marketing.
It’s time to shift your SEO strategies. Create high-quality content and put your name on it. Google views branded mentions as a signal of legitimacy and your SEO improves over time. Just like people, Google can see right through the fluff. You must find the time to participate in the process of creating strong content for eager audiences. It’s like going into a shop you like where the people recognize you and get your interests and tastes. That’s all you’re trying to do.
Google will understand.
